Tracey Wong 黃麗塋 (she/her) is a queer Teochew-American interdisciplinary dance artist that lights up and inspires spaces through her art. She was born and raised in Seattle, WA in the Beacon Hill neighborhood, raised by her loving parents who were refugees from Vietnam. One of her purposes is to help us remember to play, connect with our intuition, and for our bodies to genuinely express to heal and to connect to our humanity.

Tracey’s global presence in the dance world is marked by her multiple hats as a competitor, judge, teacher, and performer. This past year, she won the title of Ladies of Hip Hop 20th Anniversary - Waacking Champion and Rhythm Warehouse - Freestyle Champion in New York City. In the same year, she became the Vancouver Street Dance Festival - Wh/aacking Champion for her second time in Vancouver, BC.

In 2022, Tracey was honored as a Legend in the Pacific Northwest Kiki Ballroom scene, recognizing her contributions to Ballroom over the years. Her dedication was also celebrated by the Seattle House Dance Project in 2017 and Seattle Dance Crush in 2021, highlighting her impact on the Waacking community and the broader Seattle dance scene. Most recently, in 2024, she was celebrated at Full Circle, a movement showcase at the Seattle Asian Art Museum, for her positive impact on the community.

Throughout her past decade, Tracey has held spaces for and with community for the purpose of letting the people shine in their truth – from showcases, jams/ dance battles, dance parties, sessions, and workshops highlighting local, national and international dancers. Some events include Queen of the Hill (2015-2018), an all-ladies dance event series and Punk N Funk (2017-2019), Seattle's largest Waacking/ Whacking battle, and House that Disco (2022).

She would not be here today without the support of her loved ones and elders that have paved the way.

zahra masaoka

Being Asian American means honoring the great sacrifice and resilience of my ancestors. It means a lifetime of unlearning and reclaiming. It means awareness of my white passing privilege and how that is weaponized to divide communities of color and to uphold white supremacy. It means not letting other people erase and invalidate me. It means celebrating and loving myself, fully.

Honoring my family, their story and resilience as well as my own. Staying connected to my culture and feeling strong in my identity despite being mixed. It also means being accountable in acknowledging my racial privileges, and striving to be a better ally to other communities of color.
